Recipe of the Week

Blonde Brownies

This week's recipe is a sweet treat--perfect for a Family Home Evening.

Combine:

1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

In another bowl melt in microwave:

1/3 c. butter (if you use shortening add 1 Table. hot water)

Add to the melted butter:

1 c. firmly packed brown sugar

Mix well. Cool slightly.

Then add:

1 egg
1 Table. vanilla extract

Then add the flour mixture, a little at a time, to the sugar/butter mixture--mixing well.

Spread in a 9x9 pan. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.

Okay, these are yummy on their own--don't get me wrong! That is how Andrew likes them...

However, what the rest of us like to do with these blondies is place one in a bowl, put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and then (and this part is important) drizzle butterscotch syrup on top. It is divine!

Enjoy!

Karen
